We are moving the dates of the 2020 Brooklyn Folk Festival to November 6th – 8th.
We watched and waited to make sure that this was the best or only option – and it is both. New York City has recently placed an indefinite ban on gatherings of more than 50 people. And it would be very irresponsible – period – to hold the festival during the April dates given how public health concerns have escalated. For your safety and that of our artists, staff and volunteers this is a clear choice.
We are so sorry to have to make this change. It impacts all of us – organizers, musicians and patrons. Touring musicians are hurting very hard right now due to these types of cancellations and date changes. Many musicians are doing online performances, lessons and other creative endeavors to survive. We urge you to look up the musicians booked for the Brooklyn Folk Festival, see what they are doing, and support them if you can.
These are hard times personally, psychologically as well as financially, for everyone. We would have loved to be all together in April making music.
Moving the Brooklyn Folk Festival is a hardship for us, and the Jalopy Theatre that presents the Folk Festival is struggling to survive at this time. However, we will see the other side of this.
We hope that this scary and nerve wracking point in our history will be substantially behind us after a few months. And we are looking forward to a joyous Fall festival when we can all be together.
If you have already purchased tickets – those tickets will remain valid for the dates of the Fall festival. We urge you to hold on to your tickets and use them for the new date!!
However, we understand everyone may not be able to make it to the new dates, and so we are offering ticket refunds. If you would like a refund, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Refunds will be issued within 90 days of your request.
Thank you and stay healthy and safe. Take all precautions. Wash your hands thoroughly!
We will have a wonderful festival in the Fall.
